Bob Sayer

Bob Sayer came to Nova Scotia from London, England, in 1968.

By the mid-1970s he had founded the Lunenburg District Youth Soccer Association and under his presidency it became the largest youth soccer organization outside the Halifax/Dartmouth area.

Sayer served on the Soccer Nova Scotia board of directors from 1975 to 1985 and was its president from 1981 to 1984. He also became the first Atlantic Canadian to be elected vice-president of the Canadian Soccer Association and over the years acted as head of delegation for many national teams going to play in foreign countries.

On the pitch, he coached for over 25 years and produced numerous provincial and Atlantic champions.

Sayer was the first Nova Scotia Sport Hall of Fame inductee for the sport of soccer.
