Glen Murray

The 2017 induction class included Glen Murray, a first-round draft pick of the Boston Bruins in 1991 who had a stellar 16-year NHL career with the Bruins, Penguins and Kings.

The Bridgewater native played in over 1,000 regular season games and nearly 100 playoff games, was a two-time all star, won a world championship with Team Canada in 2004, scored 337 goals and has the third-highest points total among Nova Scotians in NHL history.

Murray’s best season was in 2002-03, when he registered 44 goals and finished seventh in the league with 92 points.

As a young player, he led the Nova Scotia Major Midget Hockey League with 71 points in just 28 games in 1987-88 with the South Shore Mustangs before moving to Ontario to play Major Junior for Sudbury.

There, he scored 84 points in 54 games in his final season in 1991-92, and then played 15 games during the Bruins’ playoff run to the conference finals that spring.

After scoring 30 goals in 48 AHL games in the next season, he got called up to the NHL to stay.
